Rich, ancient woods and National Nature Reserve. The ash stools located in these woods are the oldest living things in Suffolk with over 700 years of recorded history. The site provides a uniquely expansive mass of broad-leaved woodland and is home hundreds of different types of wild flowers and fungi. There are various trails leading through the reserve and toilets and parking facilities can be found at the north. The Green Oak Centre (pictured) is a fairly recent addition to the site, constructed almost entirely of local wood. [TAGS; St Edmundsbury, forest, trees, wilderness, coppice, Suffolk Wildlife Trust]
