Butley Priory

A beautiful ancient Priory set in the Suffolk countryside near Woodbridge. Peacefully situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the Suffolk coast, surrounded by woodland and forest. The 13th century, Grade 1 listed Priory is the former gatehouse to an Augustinian monastery in 1171. The rest of the monastery now lies in ruins but the gatehouse has been converted into a private house that acts as an events venue and holiday accommodation. Constructed in two storeys of stone and knapped flint, the Grade 1 listed building contains a fine Georgian staircase, Great Hall, Drawing room, magnificent bedrooms featuring some Elizabethan panelling.
